Official Rules

NO PURCHASE OR PAYMENT OF ANY KIND IS NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. A PURCHASE WILL NOT IMPROVE YOUR ODDS OF WINNING.

OPEN ONLY TO LEGAL UNITED STATES RESIDENTS WHO RESIDE IN THE FIFTY (50) UNITED STATES AND WASHINGTON, D.C. WHO, AS OF THE TIME OF ENTRY, ARE AT LEAST 18 YEARS OLD.

VOID WHERE PROHIBITED OR RESTRICTED BY LAW.

1. Eligibility

The Dollar Shave Club Chin-try Contest (the “Contest”) is open only to individuals who are (i) eighteen (18) years of age or older at the time of entry and (ii) legal residents of the fifty (50) United States and Washington D.C. Void where prohibited or restricted by law. The following individuals are not eligible to enter or win a prize: employees, contractors, representatives, agents, directors, and officers of Dollar Shave Club, Inc. (“Sponsor”), the National Collegiate Athletic Association® (“NCAA®”), CBS Broadcasting, Inc. (“CBS”), Turner Broadcasting System, Inc. (“Turner”), and their respective parent, subsidiary, or affiliated companies, marketing agencies, and any other parties involved in the administration of the Contest (Sponsor, collectively with the foregoing, the “Contest Parties”) and each of the immediate family members of such excluded individuals (i.e., spouses, parents, children, siblings and the “steps” of each) and all persons living in the same household of each. By participating in this Contest, entrants agree to be bound by these official rules (“Official Rules”) and by the decisions of the Sponsor which shall be final in all matters relating to the Contest. Winning a prize is contingent upon fulfilling all requirements set forth herein. This Contest is in no way sponsored, endorsed, or administered by Instagram or Twitter. Instagram and Twitter are completely released of all liability by each entrant in this Contest.    

2. Contest Entry Period

The entry period for the Contest starts once Dollar Shave Club posts the official Contest posts on Instagram and Twitter on March 9, 2022 and ends on March 14, 2022 at 11:59:59 PM Pacific Time (“PT”) (“Entry Period”). Sponsor’s computer is the official time keeping device for the Contest.

3. How to Enter

During the Entry Period, Dollar Shave Club will make a series of posts in relation to the Contest on its owned and operated Instagram handle (@dollarshaveclub) and Twitter handle (@DollarShaveClub) (the “Posts”). Once you see a Post, follow the instructions to post a photo of your own smooth chin to your Instagram profile or Twitter feed, using #ContestChintry and tagging @dollarshaveclub in the post (the “Submission”) to receive one (1) entry into the Contest (the “Entry”).  Your Submission must be a picture of your own chin; you may not use a picture of someone else’s chin.  If posting on Instagram, your Submission must be a new, in-feed post to your Instagram profile to be eligible.

You can obtain a maximum of one (1) Entry for this Contest.

Your Submission must be uploaded in accordance with the Instagram Terms of Use and Privacy Notice (help.instagram.com/581066165581870), or the Twitter Terms of Service (twitter.com/en/tos), as applicable.  If you do not already have an Instagram or Twitter account, visit www.instagram.com or www.twitter.com to create one for free. Your Instagram or Twitter account must also be set to public.

The person uploading the Entry will be deemed the entrant (the “Entrant”). Entrant must be the authorized account holder of the e-mail address registered to the Instagram or Twitter account used to enter the Contest. The “authorized account holder” is defined as the natural person to whom the e-mail address is assigned by an internet service provider, online service provider or other organization (e.g., business, educational institution, etc.) that is responsible for assigning e-mail addresses for the domain associated with the submitted e-mail address.  Potential winners may be required to provide identification sufficient to show that he/she is the authorized account holder of the Instagram account, in Sponsor’s sole discretion. In the event of a discrepancy between the identity of the authorized account holder, the “winner,” and the Entrant, Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to determine whether the Entry is valid or to declare the Entry invalid and select an alternate winner from the list of all remaining eligible Entries.

By entering, you agree to waive any rights you may have to the Entry submitted. The Entry, or any portion thereof, may not contain obscene, profane, lewd, defamatory or inappropriate content, or be disparaging to Sponsor, as determined in Sponsor’s sole discretion. Entries must be in keeping with Sponsor's image and may not be offensive, as determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion, nor can it defame or invade publicity rights or privacy rights of any person, living or deceased, or otherwise infringe upon any person's personal or proprietary rights. Entrants may not copy or otherwise plagiarize the Entry from any source. All Entries must be the sole, original work of the Entrants. Any Entry or portion thereof that is, in the Sponsor’s sole discretion, obscene, profane, lewd, defamatory, inappropriate, disparaging, offensive or contains proprietary right of any person living or deceased (including but not limited to rights of privacy or publicity or portrayal in a false light) or entity, or is otherwise objectionable, will not be considered and may disqualify the Entrant. Entries should not contain any third-party materials (other than Dollar Shave Club), or otherwise violate or infringe (or possibly infringe) any copyright, trademark, logo, mark that identifies a brand. Sponsor may blur or black out the infringing material, in their sole discretion. Entries become the property of the Sponsor and will not be acknowledged or returned. Entrants and winners acknowledge and agree that their Entries become the property of the Sponsor, which thereby has the right to edit, adapt, modify, reproduce, promote and otherwise use Entries in any way it sees fit.

Compliance with the Entry requirements will be determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion.  Submissions that violate these Official Rules will be disqualified from the Contest.

4. Judging/Winner Selection and Notification

All eligible Submissions received throughout the Entry Period will be judged by Sponsor-selected judges (“Judges”) based on the following criteria: Originality/Creativity (25%); Best Show of Fandom (25%); Most Interesting Chin Design (25%); and Passion/Enthusiasm (25%) (the “Judging Criteria”). Two (2) potential Grand Prize winners and three (3) potential Second Prize winners of the Contest will be selected by the Judges on or about March 18, 2022. Any tied Submissions will be re-judged by the Judges based 100% on Most Interesting Chin Design. By participating, Entrants agree to the Official Rules and the decisions of the Judges, which shall be final and binding with respect to all matters relating to the Contest.

Sponsor will notify potential winners via a comment on/response to their Entry or via direct message, on or around March 18, 2022. The contact notification will include instructions on how to claim the Prize. If any winner is found to be ineligible, or not in compliance with these Official Rules, declines to accept a prize, if Sponsor is unable to contact the winner within twenty-four (24) hours of attempting contact, or in the event that a prize notification is returned undeliverable, the Prize may be forfeited.  The potential winner must furnish proof of identification and sign, complete, and return an Affidavit of Eligibility and Liability Release and, except where prohibited, a Publicity Release and Assignment of Rights (the “Prize Claim Documents”), within three (3) days of attempted notification or the Prize may be forfeited.  In the event that a potential winner fails to return the completed Prize Claim Documents within three (3) days, or is disqualified for any reason, Sponsor reserves the right to award the Prize to an alternate Entrant. Sponsor, in its sole discretion and time permitting, will attempt to contact up to three (3) potential winners of a prize in accordance with the above procedure, after which the Prize may go unawarded if it remains unclaimed.

5. Prizes and Prize Claims

Five (5) prizes are available (the “Prizes”). The Prizes consist of:

a. Grand Prize (2 total): Two (2) Sponsor-selected tickets to the 2022 NCAA® Division I Men’s Basketball National Championship Game in New Orleans, Louisiana on or about April 4, 2022 (the “Championship Game”), and one (1) $800 prepaid gift card for travel-related expenses. Each Grand Prize has an approximate retail value (“ARV”) of $1,400. Winner must be able to travel to the Championship Game on or about April 4, 2022, or the winner agrees to forfeit the Grand Prize in its entirety and Sponsor will award the Grand Prize to an alternate winner, time permitting.

b. Second Prize (3 total): Two (2) Sponsor-selected tickets to the 2022 NCAA® Division I Men’s Basketball National Semi-Finals Games in New Orleans, Louisiana on or about April 2, 2022 (the “National Semi-Finals”), and one (1) $800 prepaid gift card for travel-related expenses (ARV: $1,400). Winner must be able to travel to the National Semi-Finals on or about April 2, 2022, or the winner agrees to forfeit the Second Prize in its entirety and Sponsor will award the Second Prize to an alternate winner, time permitting.  

The total ARV of the Prizes offered in this Contest is $7,000.

Gift cards are subject to separate terms and conditions imposed by issuer. Ticket seating area will be determined at the sole discretion of Sponsor. Prizes do not include any other elements which are not expressly described above, including but not limited to transportation to and from the game locations. No prize substitution (in whole or in part), cash redemption, sale, or transfer of the prize is permitted, except at the sole discretion of the Sponsor. If a prize or component of the Prize cannot be awarded for any reason, Sponsor reserves the right to substitute a prize (or any prize component) with one of comparable or greater value, the contents of such substitute prize to be in Sponsor’s sole discretion.

Each winner is solely responsible for any federal, state, local, or other applicable taxes associated with the acceptance and use of a Prize.  All costs and expenses associated with Prize acceptance and use not specifically provided herein are the responsibility of the winner.

6. Odds of Winning

Odds of winning depend on number of Entries received during the Entry Period.

7. Publicity

Except where prohibited by law, by accepting a prize, the winner hereby grants Sponsor and its designees a perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive and sub-licensable right and license to use, distribute, and publicly display the winner’s name, hometown, and likeness in any way, at any time, in any and all media, including for use in advertising and marketing, without limitation, without any additional approval or consideration.

8. Releases and Limitations of Liability

The Contest Parties assume no liability and are not responsible for, and by entering the Contest you hereby waive and release the Contest Parties from, any actions, claims, damages, losses or injuries of any kind (collectively “Claims”) arising out of or in connection with the Contest and/or the receipt, use or misuse of any prize, including without limitation, Claims relating to: (i) the malfunction of any computer, telephone, network, satellite, hardware, software or communications line; (ii) unauthorized human intervention; (iii) incorrect, delayed or inaccurate transmission, winner notifications, prize claims or other information or communications relating to the Contest, or the failure to capture or transmit any such information; (iv) damage to any person’s computer or mobile device; or (v) any errors in these Official Rules, winner notifications or other announcements or communications relating to the Contest. In the event of any ambiguity or error(s) in these Official Rules, Sponsor reserves the right to clarify or modify these Official Rules however it deems appropriate to correct any such ambiguity or error(s).  If due to an error or for any other reason, more legitimate prize claims are received than the number of prizes stated in these Official Rules, Sponsor reserves the right to award only a single prize from a random drawing of all eligible Entries.  In no event will more than the stated number of prizes (i.e., one prize) be awarded.

LEGAL WARNING: ANY ATTEMPT BY AN INDIVIDUAL, WHETHER OR NOT A PARTICIPANT, TO DELIBERATELY UNDERMINE THE LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THIS CONTEST IS A VIOLATION OF CRIMINAL AND CIVIL LAWS, AND SHOULD SUCH AN ATTEMPT BE MADE, SPONSOR RESERVES THE RIGHT TO SEEK DAMAGES AND PURSUE ALL OTHER REMEDIES AGAINST ANY SUCH INDIVIDUAL TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.

Sponsor may prohibit an entrant from participating in the Contest or winning the Prize if, in its sole discretion, it determines that said entrant is attempting to undermine the legitimate operation of the Contest by cheating, deception, or other unfair playing practices (including the use of automated quick entry programs) or intending to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other entrants or any Contest Parties.

9. General Conditions

If the Contest is not capable of running as planned for any reason, including without limitation, due to a force majeure event or infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity, or proper conduct of the Contest, Sponsor reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to modify, suspend, or cancel the Contest. In the event of cancellation, Sponsor reserves the right to select an alternate winner from the remaining non-suspect, eligible Entries received as of the time of termination.  

10. Governing Law

All issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Official Rules, the rights and obligations of entrants and winners, and the rights and obligations of the Sponsor in connection with the Contest, shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with, the laws of State of California, without giving effect to any choice of law or conflict of law rules. Sponsor’s failure to enforce any term of these Official Rules shall not constitute a waiver of that or any other provision. If any provision of these Official Rules is held to be invalid or unenforceable, such provision shall be struck, and the remaining provisions shall be enforced.

11. Privacy

Any personally identifiable information collected during an entrant’s participation in the Contest will be collected and used by Sponsor and its designees for the administration and fulfillment of the Contest and as otherwise described in these Official Rules and Sponsor’s privacy policy available at https://ask.dollarshaveclub.com/hc/en-us/articles/360000381907-Privacy-Policy. The information you provide will only be used as provided in Sponsor’s privacy policy. By entering the Contest, you grant Sponsor permission to share your email address and any other personally identifiable information with the Contest Parties for the purpose of administration and prize fulfillment, including use in a publicly available winner’s list. Any questions, comments, or complaints regarding this Contest shall be directed to Sponsor and not to Instagram or Twitter.

12. Winners’ List

For the name of the winners, send an email to [email protected]. Requests must be received no later than sixty (60) days after the end of the Entry Period.
